The CBS reporter from Bizarro World

January 3, 2017

It’s not easy creating a bogus hate crime on the back of a real hate crime but somehow, in an almost supernatural display of dishonesty and lack of scruples, CBS News reporter Dean Reynolds managed to do it.

On December 31, 2016, four young black people—two men, two women, ages 18, 18, 18, and 24—kidnapped a white special-needs teenager from a McDonald’s in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg and held him until January 3, 2017, eventually tying him up in a South Chicago apartment where they tortured and abused him while they tried to collect $300 in ransom from his mother.

Yeah, $300.  Small people have small goals.

It became a hate crime because the perpetrators were black and evidenced an issue with their captive’s Caucasian-osity by dropping subtle clues, like shouting, “Fuck Donald Trump!” and “Fuck white people!”

(Those clues were almost too subtle for Chicago police who at first insisted there was no evidence that the crime was racially motivated.  No wonder Chicago is a mess—the people running the police department are as dumb as the thugs.)

We know what the perpetrators shouted and we know everybody’s race and we know exactly how they physically abused and tortured their captive because one of these four bonehead lowlifes live-streamed video of the whole thing on Facebook.

Yeah, they really did.  Small people have small brains, too.

Anyway, that was the hate crime.  The four were arrested and denied bail based on the ugliness of the video.  Here are their mug shots:

Notice their race.

The trouble with this hate crime was that it didn’t correspond to the meme the mainstream media had been trying to sell ever since Donald Trump was elected president, namely that Trump was a racist white man elected by white racists.  Here were racist black Trump haters abusing a helpless white kid.

What to do, what to do?

The answer is simple if you’re a CBS radio reporter: lie.  People listening on the radio can’t see anybody’s race, right?  So describe the crime in such a way as to make them think it was four white racist Trump supporters abusing a black kid.  Here is how CBS reporter Dean Reynolds described things:
“In the video he is choked and repeatedly called the n-word.  His clothes are slashed and he is terrorized with a knife.  His alleged captors repeatedly reference Donald Trump.”
You see what Mr. Reynolds did there, right?  Technically, everything he said was correct, but the overriding impression he gave listeners was that the perpetrators were white racist Trump supporters abusing a black victim.  And the CBS news host who introduced Mr. Reynolds’ report didn’t correct that impression because, apparently, this was the impression CBS wanted to communicate.

Basically, Dean Reynolds gave the Bizarro World version of events.  And, if he had any sense of shame, that’s where he would remove himself.
