Coffin left on Rep. Russ Carnahan’s front lawn

March 21, 2010

Another in the string of phony hate crimes concocted by Democrats to undermine the Tea Party and opponents of Obamacare was a coffin reported by Congressman Russ Carnahan, whose office reported that the coffin was “left” on his front lawn as a “threat.”

This supposedly happened March 21, the day of the final vote for Obamacare.  Politico reported about the incident on March 24, apparently using the Print-Whatever-The-Democrats-Put-In-Their-Press-Release journalistic technique.

In the real world—the world that websites like Politico know about only by rumor—the coffin wasn’t a threat of any kind, and wasn’t actually left on Carnahan’s lawn.  In fact, it never touched Carnahan’s lawn.  Tea Partiers held a prayer vigil at Carnahan’s office, in which they used a small coffin as a prop representing the unborn babies which would be killed if the Democrat healthcare legislation was passed.  After praying at his office, they held a prayer vigil on the sidewalk in front of his home.

After the prayer vigil, they packed up their small coffin and took it away with them.

No coffin left on the front lawn, no threat intended, no truth to the reported hate crime.

You would think that would be the end of it, especially after Carhahan’s office was forced to admit that the coffin was never “left” anywhere, let alone on his front lawn, but liberals are nothing if not adament when they concoct a phony hate crime.  To this day the official position of Carnahan is that “there can be disagreement on the health care reform without resorting to threats and intimidation.”

Huh?  What threat?  What intimidation?

Rather than playing the role of hate crime victim, maybe Carnahan should ask himself why he considers prayers threatening.
